ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I had the pleasant opportunity to work with Peter
for a few weeks when he engaged my services to develop this web site.
Peter came across to me as a man who is highly-committed, with great
visions and most of all dedicated in whatever things he does. His interest
in discus began in the year 2001 when he was given a pair of discus
and he has since dedicated himself to the research of this beautiful
fish.
Peter was born in 1963 and together with his wife, Rachel, has four children named Glen, Natalie, Tammy and Stefan. Disciplined in computers and life insurance, he is also well known for being a pioneer in the development and promotion of show quality bettas in Singapore. He is also the founding ex-president of the Betta Club (Singapore) in the year 2001 and is better known for his yellow and red strains. The club has started out with about ten enthusiasts and he was nominated by the pro-tem committee to head the team. The membership has since then increased to more than a hundred members in a few months. His enthusiasm and success with the club has spurred him on and he is inspired to further his dream to convert his hobbies into work and vice versa.
In May 2003, he turned this dream into a reality
,
Peter decided to promote the breeding and keeping of discus to the masses
and set up his own shop named Discus Habitat. Discus Habitat is a new
concept in aquarium retailing which provides a highly conducive environment
for discus breeder/hobbyists as well as beginners alike to interact
with him and learn from each other’s experiences.
Discus Habitat was formed for 3 reasons;
- The breeding and keeping of Discus and improving what’s new as well
as developing new strains.
- Secondly for retail and a place for hobbyists to gather.
- Most importantly to produce quality discus for competitions.
With the opening of his shop, Peter hopes to grow with the local Discus Club in promoting the keeping of Discus even further.
I wish him all the best?
